What is polyurea and how does it work?

By the SealCraft Iberia team · Updated June 11, 2026

Polyurea is a high-performance, seamless coating created by mixing two liquid components under high pressure and spraying them directly onto a surface. Within seconds the components react and form a strong, rubber-like layer that is completely waterproof.

Because the coating is applied in one pass without seams or joints, it forms a closed skin across the entire surface. This layer is exceptionally elastic and crack-bridging: it moves with the substrate without tearing. That makes polyurea ideal for swimming pools, roofs and terraces where water must never find a way in.

Polyurea is applied by specialised professionals using dedicated spray equipment. Proper preparation of the substrate is decisive for the final result and the lifespan.
